Have you ever wanted to create your own custom website from scratch, but don't know where to start? Forget those "Fill-In-The-Blank" website templates like yahoo/geocities, etc... It's easier than most people think.

I have been in web design for a number of years, and everything I have learned is "Self Taught". I have been thinking about using my knowledge and skills to help others that may be interested in learning "Web Design" as well.

Whether your wanting to get into the Web Design industry as a profession, or if you are looking to learn it for fun! Either way, it should be "FUN" or it’s just not worth doing.

So, with that said. I have started a Web Design class and we currently have about 10 students, but there are still some openings.

Date: Saturday May 3rd

Time: 11:00am (class time is about an hour)

Location: The Service Station (on the 2nd floor)

9315 N. Nevada

Spokane, WA. 99218

www.theservicestation.org (for more on the location)

Course:

A total of 8 classes (more if needed)

Days: Saturday's @ 11:00am

Cost: $100

What We Will Learn:

Each “student” will learn the fundamentals of web design and will gain proficiency in the software programs that every Web Designer needs to know. Programs are as follows: Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks & DreamWeaver. A later class on "Flash" is an option for those who would like to take it!

If you do not have these programs, then I recommend investing in them. These will be your tools in creating great websites.

Not all programs are needed to begin the class. We will start out with learning basic HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) and creating tables, which is your site structure. This only requires using “notepad” and “Internet Explorer” which come with any computer. Another free program for HTML editing will be available as well, once the class starts.

I recommend at least having “Photoshop” when the class begins, as this is what I will be teaching with. However, I will have 30 day trial versions of Photoshop for you to install on the day of class, if you do not already have the program. You may download a trial yourself before the start of class if you would like.

Price: $100 per student – This is an amazing price, as the normal value for a class like this is $3,000 or more. My price is lowered to make this easier and more affordable for people to get the opportunity to learn Web Design.

So, if you are interested in taking this class, then send me an email to: tyler@spokoman.ws with the subject “Web Class”, and let me know that you would like to attend.

Requirements for the class:

Equipment-

• Laptop- (preferred) – There will not be any computers available for individual use, so everyone will unfortunately need to have their own. Laptops are easier to tote in and out of class. If you only have a desktop, let me know.

Software-

• Adobe Photoshop- (preferably one of the latest versions) – This is the recommended program to have in order to keep up with the rest of the class, as we will be creating the layout of our sites in this program.

• KompoZer- (a FREE program) - This is a complete web authoring system that combines web file management and easy-to-use WYSIWYG web page editing. I will have this available for install on the first day of class. If you would like to get it before then, you can Google it and download it for free.

EXTRAS:

I will be doing a drawing during the class as well, and two lucky people will get a prize!

Thanks, and I hope to see you in class!
